Evans Build thread finilly up :D

Ok so my XJ has 82k miles. Got it for free because it was sitting behinds my dads job for years and the boss said i can have it for free =] After i got ahold of it offcourse tires were shot etc. So right when i get it home i order a lift kit from Truck shop. I get discounts there but hate them. A week goes by and i go to pick up my lift kit on a rainy day.. bad move because on the way home while the kit is in my trunk this happens...

    oh it gets worse...

So then i had to order a new whole front header etc. So while waiting i decided to get 31 inch tires... Now it gets better! this kid who said these tires would fit lied...( my fault should of payed more attension to the 5 lug spaceing ) so i spend 150 on shittys and got screwed out of the deal... i was lucky a resold them for 125...

So then i decied to wait and get enough money for brand new tires on brand new rims and then got these puppys =D

Those tires are with my 3.5 inch sky jacker lift already installed. Sorry forgot to take pictures of me and my friends doing the lift

So now my truck sits looking like this, Besides the fact i moved the rack lights to my bumper and installed hids in them.

Now more goodies! This stuff just came in the mail a few hours ago

    Skyjacker transfer case drop

    4 inch pit arm drop

    Rocker body armor

    Rear armor with rail

Im still waiting for my Drop bracket, Brake lines, Shackles, and coil spacer. I got shackles and a coil spacer so my jeep will sit around 4.5 - 5 inch of lift. I understand i will be stressing my shocks a bit on max flex but ill be getting longer ones at a differnt time. I will be adding all this to the jeep once i get eveything else in the mail. I hope you like!

Because of the maxium number of pictures and i left out some of the work done... ill post them here.

After i got my jeep up and running and offroading again i happend to get water on the inside of the jeep... time to rip up the carpet!

Gotta prep and get rid of that cancer rust! and there were no rust holes! yay me! haha

Now i know why my carpet smelt a little funky!!!

Yes that was under my carpet haha!!!

Now for paint! those things you see were leafs that flew in while my windows were open.. Thank god they didnt stick

This was such a great thing to do.

Yeah thanks, my next step is finding something to outline the body armor with to creat a nice seal. I feel like if i just rivit the armor on water might slip inbetween it in cause nice rust holes. My friend said just out line it with 2 sided tape then put it on then rivit it to form a nice seal. Prob the best idea i just hope it doesent form a gap

Theres a few good threads on JF about that. I looked into it when I built my sliders. Quadratec makes an armor backing material. I asked around if anyone uses it and almost everyone said NOT to use anythingbehind the armor. even the 3M tape. #M has a habit of deterioration after a while. Anything you put back there will trap dirt and moisture. Before you put the armor on, just be sure that the paint is not compromised. If it is just hit it with some primer. And bolt it on.
