Take your 4.0 and may a stroker with it... then it will do that plus some
So I finally got behind the wheel of that Orvis I posted I bought, couldn't resist sticking my plates on it any longer. M ZJ has the 4.0 in it, and the Orvis the 5.2, and lemme tell you, what a difference. That engine has some amount of power, holy crap.... I punched it and was doing 40-45 leaving 1st gear, if that could happen with my 4.0 I would be the happiest person in the worldJust needed to share that, because it felt that good lol.

What does it even take to do that? I would rather just get a 5.9 down the road and keep the 4.0, but isn't making a stroker kind of a pain in the ass?
There is a forum dedicated to a 4.0 Stroker... good place to look for info. It is however no more a pain in the ass than building up any other engine for more CIs or power... get the cylinders bored out, put lager piston in, get the correct length piston rods, port the intake and exhaust, performance cam and lifters, bore out the throttle body, etc, etc, etc... get it all put together timed, tuned, and tweaked to your liking.
My recommendation would be to buy a junk yard 4.0, rebuild that one as a stroker, then swap them out. I would also keep the spare 4.0 so if the stroker goes down you can still have a working engine to put in the jeep while repairs are being made. This would also allow you to build the stroker over a longer period of time. The stroker would have one advantage over that 5.2, weight, and maybe a lil better fuel economy. and you can build the stroker anywhere from 4.1L-4.7L

Cool as that would be, too much effort for me lol. I would rather just have a 5.2 or 5.9. Next goal is to buy a niner, always wanted one since I bought my ZJ, and now feeling the power in the 5.2 it is definitely happening lol.
I saw a few years back, some athlete had a custom TJ built by Jeep with a V10 Viper motor in it. Thats gotta be a bad ass scary ride. Right up my alley!
