Although a pretty unique Jeep, it's still a Jeep. I was referring the Subaru adds that claim they have the "First sport utility wagon", meaning car or station wagon. American motors was way ahead of their time when they decided to put the Jeeps 4x4 system under the Concord wagon and calling it the Eagle. It got even cooler when they made the 2 door Eagle sx/4

I had one of those in college, in between rides, it was the four door, the 4wd was great in the snow and drove so smooth....although it couldn't get out of its own way...such a pig!

AMC didn't start production of Eagles untill 1979

A quote Subaru of America History

"1976 Subaru 4x4 is the car of choice for the US Ski team! They runs TV ads showing how well a Subaru does in in the snow, and advertise 'Inexpensive and built to stay that way'. Subaru is the 6th largest import car in the US."

I owned a 1978 Brat in 1990 It was definately car based. The same engine and suspention as my friends DlL wagon.

Did it have the 4 or 6? Standard came with the 4 and the upgrade was a 6. I would think an I6 in the little 2 door would be sweet. Or even better, drop in a 318.
