Hi, New guy here, I am from 25 minutes west of Albany NY. I am building a 1985 cj7 with a chevy 350 and a 700r4 tranny.
Here's what I did today...
Today I pulled the transfer case off the old tranny and disassembled the input shaft while I am waiting for the new input shaft and adapter from Novak conversions. I am also waiting for the Novak motor and tranny mounts for the sbc and auto tranny.
On the gm 700r4 tranny I drained it, pulled the pan and filter, then ran the new internal harness for the TCI lock up kit, this was necessary as my jeep never was wired for an overdrive tranny and it was an upgrade to the older setup and even includes an option to wire a switch for locking on demand even in second gear. I guess I don't understand it much I was told it's a nice feature if your towing, not sure I understand but that's okay
The tranny fluid was pretty dark but there weren't any chunks inside so I remain optimistic about the used tranny. Tomorrow I will clean the pan and magnet up, reinstall a new filter and gasket then put the pan back on, and add tranny fluid. Next I will marry the motor and tranny so it is ready to be dropped in... gotta get it in before the body is done being painted for assembly. The painter hasn't got to it yet so there is still time.
Oh yeah, she's getting a candy apple red metalic paint job. Cutting in first, then assembly, then the overall paint job.

Welcome guys! Trail horse you might want to start your own intro thread. That's an awesome restore you are doing.

I can fix that if you want...
Welcome to the community. I have never been to RC, want to go, just never have the time or money to do it. So I spend my time looking round here for local places to check out and wheel.
