hahahaha lookin nice.. I had bounced around with a similiar idea. I thought about plating an existing cover, but I didnt consider using another cover... good idea.. I have both d30 and Chrys8.25 covers from the crushed black xj
I am considering trying to make one from scratch. Maybe rip off Ruff Stuffs design. Probably wont be as pretty. Id love one for the D44. But $115 is ALOT for a cover.

Yeah i got a quote from Ruff Stuff. $115 with discount. And i think i will use the 220 welder on the next cover. I did this with the 120 and i was pushing the duty cycle and wire thickness. But it is water tight![]()

I found the SOLID covers for afound $75. But i dont like the look of them. I like the raw look of the Ruff Stuff ones. I dont like the molded look of the cheaper ones. Just my taste.

I love my Solid. It's quite strong and priced way lower than most of the competition.
AS for a do it yourself, if you have extra steel laying around have you thought of welding a cage around the cover, angled like a stinger to protect the bottom nicely and perhaps help it glide over stuff? Just a thought.

I have no worries about SOLIDs quality and the prices are good. I just like the look of the bare steel with the visable welds. Just if i had a choice ya know. I may play around on the next ones i do. Make a home brew Rough Country guards. Im just playin at this point. As long as its free. Thats how ya learn.
