bout damn time! This is gonna be a good one...
After years of blood, sweat and beers.....I have finally decided to make a build thread. Until Outlawed came around I never really cared about Jeep Forums. I have years of work pics piled up over on Photobucket, so this will be a looking back build thread. Hope yall enjoy.
I'm gonna start with my latest and longest thing coming to my Jeep though. PAINT!

So I got my Jeep in 04-06 from an old friend for $300. Needed a lot of work. brakes, exhaust, glass, floors and some grill pieces. This is how he sat when it was cool to have an orange diff cover haha
so now looking back through PB I dont have as many pics as thought. they are all on a failing external. But I have enough.

After about 10 years of wheeling I finally got serious enough to leave for tougher wheeling. With that came the need for some recovery points. Couldn't afford a bumper and not wanting to use a hitch I decided to make my own. got an idea from a build on cherokeeforum.com and went to work.
My rear points are made with 1/2"thick steel about 18" by 2" with 4 grade8 1/2 inch hardware.
They slide into the uniframe rail and bolt through to my 1/4" fuel tank skid. Here is a pic taken before I put the skid on. I have made some good pulls with them set up the way you see here. I know for sure they are thougher now tied into the skid plate.
Here you can see a gusset welded down the middle of the 1/2" plate.
At first I had the stock bumper cut from the bottom up and that only allowed me to face the hooks down...rope never stayed put. After acquiring a new bumper I cut the notches from the top down allowing the hooks to be right side up. Tomorrow I'll try and get some updated pics.

Last weekend at Rausch Creek was my first time there since installing all my skids, and let me tell you my balls grew! lol. I have always like the idea of lower CA skids so Dom(hulud44) and I set out to make our own. Hes got some extra 3/16 steel from his rear cross member, so we got to work making up some templates. The surface area is 4"x3 1/4 but I still have stock LCAs and the stamped steel bumps out a little. so we pushed the bottom off and added an inch to each side to bend in.
Once we cut the material we scored where our bends were, made the bends and welded in the gap.
After that we went over them with a grinder and cleaned em up. Dom welded them up on the axle as my skills are not there just yet.
We are very happy with the end result, and I cant wait to get back in the rocks. I think this Xmas I will buy myself a HD diff cover and call my front end good! We didn't get around to HuLud44 Jeep...he likes big rocks and it shows, the ears of his LCA mounts are gonna need to be put back into shape first.

Last weekend heading home from RC on Rt 78, I came down with the nastiest deathwobble I have ever felt. After a bunch of times of pulling off the highway and regaining control then getting back on to only have to pull back off, I need to get the fuck off the highway, I was putting myself in danger and more importantly my two friends in their Jeeps.
Once we got to a gas station and my nerves calmed down we went over my front end and had found my track bar bolt was loose and the hole on the mount blown the fuck out. We were able to tighten it back down and with a quick grease job I was back on the road and passing cars on the left.
So yesterday before the LCA skids we welded on a reinforcement plate to the TB mount. Dom had it cut and ready for me for some time but...you know how it goes.
I was using the outboard stock hole.
We re-tacked the nut and tab and picked up a new 1/4" longer bolt. What a difference! If you wheel and DD your Jeep I highly recommend doing this. You'll wonder why you never did it earlier, trust me.
