Sorry, we were rushing out the door.
Some shocks, like the Old Man Emu, can handle a big lift. In stock configuration. They are built with the same compression length, but not the same extended... Then they make some that have smaller increments of lift available. They are all set for wrapping up your suspension as much as possible.
Yeah... it is a Jeep thing... We stick with mild lift Jeeps. All the 6 inch stuff and what they come up with for shocks it a bit weird. We see "kits" where the shock bottoms out before the bump stops do, or the shocks are really short and they do not let the suspension drop down. And these are from the company who "designed" the kit!

I was just trying to let you know you have options with the Bilstein and the Old Man Emu that you do not with the generic "white" shocks. We deal with long travel and we do not install "lift" kits... per say... Being on the West coast I guess makes us a bit out of the loop for the East coast driving.

I did not mean to imply you were running "stock" shocks... Despite the fact that is what it saying. Our bad... We will crawl back into our hole now... Hope you grab some shocks that work!

We really were running out the door for the long weekend. I re-read what we wrote and it did sounds weird. LOL There are SO many set ups for Jeeps we do not even attempt to keep up. We know what Tera Flex Pre Runner set up does and we know ARB and King. We keep it simple!
