  3. yea, that is normal, no different as if you were parked on a steep enough hill. to help with that you can engage your parking brake if it works. what happens is that when you put it in park, you have the weight of the jeep resting on the tranny, so when you take it out of park, you release that energy. think of it like putting a rubber band between your thumb and pointer finger (tranny on level ground) then resting it against a piece of your bare skin (the jeep), when you pull back on the rubber band (being in park while flexing or on a hill), you are storing energy then when you release it (shifting into gear), it all comes at once and there is a snap against skin (the sound of the tranny slamming into gear).

Using the parking break helps to relieve some of the pressure or stored energy when shifting to gear. your breaks store the energy instead of the tranny allowing a smoother shift from park to gear.

this happens to me when I park on a hill or park flexed to take pics.

Bandits right also watch out on the cherokees your tcase somtimes will pop out of 4 wheelm lo its normally just a small trim out of the floor behind the shifter and it solves that aswell
