Does smiths point close after NYE like the state pass does???

I understand Smith Point is 365 depending on weather, birds and erosion/tides/safety. the previous year sticker is good until they issue the new ones which are usually on sale in Feb or Mar. When we went, there was no one at the guard house, gates were open, outer beach "open" sign was up and the compressors were on. The sign did say the beach closes at 6PM daily. The camp grounds were open too, probably a half a dozen die-hard campers there.

Nice pics, I didn't think you could still get into smiths point anymore, so maybe I will have to take a ride out there and test my arb finally.

I've been calling everyday for 2 weeks to see if they are issuing passes yet, and they keep telling me "We have no idea when"...called the main office in West Sayville, "we have no idea when, they just arrive one day"

I think they become available in March but if you have last year's...keep it stuck and they accept it until the new ones are in. Last time I went there was no one at the Smith Point guard booth anyway...but would be just dumb luck that someone gets caught without it, not sure what they would do if anything.

Unfortunately I don't have last years pass. Not going to chance it, so I'll just keep calling and bugging them.
