I think we should add a instant message part at the bottom of the screen like facebook has it would be much easier to communicate with other members instead of clogging up a post or a thread

We have a private message set up to use. I know its a small mail box. But it does come with more space with a membership. I dont use Facebook, so i have no idea if there alike at all LOL.

we use to have something like what you are talking about back when we first started but dropped it because no one really used it.

We had the chat stream thing at the bottom but it just ended up not getting used enough and was filled more with "Kilroy wuz hea" type posts than anything else.

i get what hes saying. nothing like what we used to have. this new one would have a list of all members online atm and you would be able to click them and send them personally and instant message. not a message posted for all members to see. just an instant private conversation.

Ahhh ok I hear what you want.. Cometchat is out there but they charge a decent amount for it. I'll check on the forums forum tonight and see what other choices are out there to add IM functionality to the site.

The ones I'm looking at so far have more of the newer Facebook like chat integration. Trying to find some reviews since none of them are free and I don't want to just randomly buy one of them with a flashy website lol I'm a sucker for that.
Basically there is a bar at the bottom of the screen, with:
Random icons to click on left (fb, twitter, etc.) ----- blank space ------ Chat (# of users) and you click the names to chat there --- Chatroom for groups -- Notifications -- Hide bar
Looks like it has a Video Chat feature as well.. Going to try the demo now and see how the integration is with the forum software.
