Like most Jeep XJs of a certain age my Driver front Doors hinges had rotted out. My old friend repaired them by welding in new metal and replaced the hinges. About 7 years ago by now. Since I have been in ownership of the Jeep I have always had to slam the door shut and some time ago would not close properly....until today.
Wheeling a couple years ago I suffered a dent by the outside handle, that kinda skrewed up the lock. So today I popped of the interior panel and pushed it out as best I could and greased it all up. Doing this I noticed some an edge forming around the door where it contacts the bolt to hold shut.

So I busted out my trusty $20 Harbor Freight grinder and smoothed it out.

Closes like its old self. Now I shouldn't wake the neighbors in the middle of the night anymore;)
