OK i remember talking to wbjoe about a slip yoke kit from a guy out in Nevada i think with good prices. Gonna be shopping around for on for the YJ. Its the 231. Just need the SYE output shaft. Dont need a driveshaft. BUT the SYE has to have the yoke that works with an XJ front shaft.
Suggestions???

I run the regular porc sye, if i remember right its like 150 something, you can run a shortened xj shaft in the rear i believe. Its def the cheapest full sye around. And its the same as AA, i installed it with no issues, and it was my first time ever cracking a tcase open. But i think the main reason i had sucess is i got a damn good pair of lock ring pliers for the job.

Yeah i like the Regular kit. Its $159. Just with the YJ having such a short shaft i wonder if i should get the super short. But ill probably cheap out and do the regular kit. And as long as the XJ front shafts bolt up to the flange thats what i want. Cool, thanks Eric.
BUT keep the info comin everyone. The more the better.

I dont think an SYE is something Id go with the "best price" on. Go either AA or JB conversions...

Im liking the porc so far. But how is it the same as the AA one? Same basic design or same manufacturer? Other than porc there all generally the same price. $199.
And the porc one is listed as the Rugged Ridge one. They have a few on the site. Is the RR one the one yer runnin Eric??

Have you checked out JB conversions yet? They are suppose to be the top notch SYE kit. THey have a lot of options and a great rep. But can be a little bit on the $ side... But I went with AA.

Yeah i did rite after you listed them. Saw the one for $199. #16-1200. But i would need to call them for fitment. Which one are you running HULU? And is it a normal SYE or a super short kit? I like the Super Short kits but wondering if it would be overkill. This YJ is gonna be a dedicated wheeler. Street legal but im not driving it all over as a commuter. So im not to concerned how refined it is. Gonna start with the basics, Drivetrain, axles, lift and bare bones everything else. Heres my basic plans. Im gonna start a build log soon. But i have to sell the ZJ and finish parting out the 94 XJ before i really get going.
93 YJ.
2.5 liter / AX-5 / NP231.
2.5 will get a 4.0 throttle body, and electric cooling fan. Also a new all aluminum radiator.
AX-5 stock. I have 2 now. So we will see how long they hold up.
NP231. SYE with XJ front shaft for rear.
Axles.
Rear...Ford 8.8 with 4:11s and a limited slip. The factory disc brakes.
Front...has the HP D30 with 4:10s but has the axle disconnect. Gonna run that with the disconnect locked for now. But i have an XJ HP D30 with 4:10s that is set aside for a replacement.
Lift...probably the Rough Country 4 inch lift with new 1 inch shackles. NO transfer skid drop.
Rims...Pro Comp 15x8s with 3.75 backspace. there alloy rip offs of the American Racing Bahas.
Tires...I have 4 Super Swamper mud terrains. 34x 12.5 r 15s. Very worn but they came with the rims and i will run them till i can pick up some new rubber.
Body...bare bones. Out comes the rear seat and the tub is getting coated inside.
Top...has a hard top and thats what i will run for now. No top when wheeling.
Protection...None for now. Will make or buy as i go.
Im in the truck for $300 to buy it and $300 for the drivetrain. Figure random parts, lift, radiator, fluids, axle perches and bed liner. About $2,000. to $2,200. For the above listed. Thats including whats been spent on the truck. So $1,400 to $1,600 left in the budget. Tight budget, but im patient and i will wait and gather.
If i added up whats spent on some of the parts its way over. I did buy the rims with tires and axles.
Gonna be an interesting build.
