It seems that the JKs have a problem with the throwout bearings, especially if you are like me and like to play in mud/water. My throwout bearing is making alot of noise so I decided to do a little online research and found that alot of people are having similar problems.
My JK has over 67000 miles on it and has been in mud since it was only a month old. Other people haven't gotten near that mileage before they encountered problems, mostly due to shifting gears while the clutch is submerged.
I must also state that I have taught people to drive manual in my JK. Now since it apears to be a throwout bearing issue I want to ask why change to a performance clutch set-up if the week part is the throwout bearing?
Most of the JK forums are recomending Centerforce ($400+ for the clutch kit minus the throwout bearing) and Spec stage 3+ ($500+ for the kit with throwout bearing), but if the bigger issue seems to be the thowout bearing, what justifies the added expense of a comp clutch?
I know some people are trashing the clutch disc but it seems to be fine for my usage, and if I'm gonna be changing everthing because of the bearing and I got 4+ years and 67000+ miles on stock then why not just stay stock or close to stock?
I already know what I'm going to do but I would like some feedback on what others think.
