Alright so today i gutted my whole XJ. Repainted my floor, etc now im thinking of painting the trim all inside the XJ. Like the trim above the windows that lead all the way to the trunk and rap around back to the front. My Question is what kind of paint should i use? Prep work would just include, lightly wet sand, acitone, then maybe a spray of white paint? white paint because i want to do some bright color over it. Also, idk if anyone else noticed but the trim above the the rear seat belts is actully metal? would i need a differnt paint for that? thxs for the help guys. Sorry for my spelling.

The trim inside xjs is all different types of material as you said. But even some of the plastics are different from each other. There are some parts like pieces of the dash, door panels, and the handles above the doors that do not accept paint well at all no matter what you use. If your gonna paint it all, just clean with an all purpose cleaner like fantastic, then find a heavy duty oil based primer and spray it all at once. Give it at least 48 hours to dry in a warm place to be sure. Then you should be able to use anything over the top. But there is still no guarantee it will stick to everything. My buddy tried doing this with his XJ and some parts didnt work so well....

Yeah dashes and plastic trim may take paint but they will never stand up to constant abrasion. Like if you paint the door panels or the kicker panel trim they will wear off in time and look cheap and crappy. But as HULU said, some take paint better than others.
