So back in march i got a set of upper and lower control arems from rustys off road for my xj and had to adjust them 6 to 7 times since i got them.WTF!!!.last week i did adjustment 8 and found the lower rubber bushings SHOT.so i called them up today and talk to them and thay sed i was 2 weeks out of warenty BUT thay will sent me brand new ones.

BUT i think it might happen with the new ones. dont know, may be my install was bad (doughtfull)

dose any one els have this prob with there arms?

i was thinking of going with this new set up
LONG ARM KIT, RADIUS ARMS:*JEEP XJ, TJ, LJ, MJ, ZJ, WJ (http://www.ironman4x4fab.com/Products/LAK.html)

but my bran new rustys arms might be for sale if i go with this set up.

Why not change the bushings out for something from summit machine or ruff stuff? Thats a ton of cash to spend for some arms..

I installed a Rustys kit on my old bosses TJ. The control arms kept coming loose. Over and over again, and not with alot of miles. Im talking about him going home and the next day they had loosened up. We ended up adjusting them to where he liked them and welding the nuts to the tube arms. Problem solved. Rustys is the cheapest in the lift parts world for a reason i guess.

A friend of mine had a Rustys lift in his JK and the rear track bar came apart and stripped all the threads in the bar. Rustys sent him a new track bar and we could not keep the nut tight, i even welded the nut and it just pull out of the threads agian. He now has JKS track bars front and rear.

the flex joint or the Jimmy Joint from from summit machine ?the flex joint looks the same as rustys.but the jim looks beef. im gunna give them a call .but also if or when i sell the new arms rustys sends me $170-200 diff for a long arm set up.but then i loose the ground clearance but i can lift in a bit more ha ha - ah

I run the rusty's sway disconnects. They are reliable but I would never run anything serious from them...The dont have many good reviews.

My 4.5" lift is from them and I dont have any problems but I dont have adjustable arms. I got the solid. Just figured it would be less for me to destroy that way.

I would run the jimmy joinmts..Do the rusty joints have a threaded bung on them..If so then we can match the threads easy for replacements.. If they are welded then we can either cut them off and install bungs with heims or hell im game to build new arms..

Dont worry about clearance..Just shoot for 18-24" of belly height no matter what you do..Keeps the rig stable and balanced. If you wanna build some arms then i have some 1/4" wall 2" square tubing that we can work with.

ya i might do that but i might just try relocating the body side mountings with new 1/4 plate.

because i think the control arm angel is tooo extream and is causing the control arm to drive up into the joint.
if i lower the body side down it should swing insted of driving it up.

btw pilly you are going to rausch this weekend?

Be careful how much you lower the body side and you may get an undesired amount of caster change during the suspension travel.. Id have to look at the rig but long arms could be a better way at this point..I know im keeping this short but dropping the frame mounts will effect your roll axis, roll center anti dive and whatnot..

Im trying to get to rc this weekend..It looks like a go so far..Ive just gotta pack up the camper.

Id say screw the short arms and go Iron Rock Offroad critical long arms IRON ROCK OFF ROAD: XJ Critical Path Long Arm Upgrade (http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IROR&Product_Code=IR-X_LAK)
