My 93' 4.0 auto has started to sort of hiccup at highway speeds. It started about a month ago and has become more frequent. So far I have taken apart my TB and IAC and cleaned thoroughly(man was junked up in there), after cleaning I have noticed a nicer idle and a slightly better acceleration but my problem is still there. Any suggestions out there? Thanks guys

dis cap ,rotor ,wires ,plugs, fuel inj,ful pump, fuel pump screen, crank sensor, could be any of those things if it is an intermitant misfire.
no check eng light?

Joe's got a good list there of candidates. 93 is gonna have a fuel filter. Cheap place to start. Then i would do the rest of the tune up items. Never hurts to do a tune up. Crank sensor is a pretty unlikely possibility BUT ive seen them do strange shit. So i wouldnt count it out. And a fuel pump could be an issue. May have good pressure but lack volume. But the filter could cause that too.

Never a good idea. OK i am just as bad. Keep in mind that letting it get low not only lets it pick up dirt and crap, but the gas in the tank acts as a cooler for the pump. The more you run it low the more the pump can overheat. So dont count out that pump.

hahaha, good to know, i only let mine run low on long trips, otherwise, it is a full fill up every 2 weeks on payday for me, usually takes about 12 gal to fill.

The funny part is, the pumps always go bad when its a full tank?? Makes it that much more fun to change.

WOW you can get two weeks out of 12 gal. i get 200 miles to my tank and that only last me like 4 days

I have a 2 mile commute. I put $20 in the XJ till it gets low then swap to $20 in the Comanche till it gets low. Then put $20 in the Elcamino and drive to work and then put $20 in to get home LOL.

keep in mind, i usually only go from home to work and back, grand total of 10 miles a day, and dont drive it on the weekends unless I have some where to be. otherwise, I am stuck at home watching the kids while the other half goes shopping for the day, both days....

turned out to be my computer causing all my problems. found a matching part number ECM from index (http://www.medfordautowreckers.com/) for $100. I was very nervous with no guarantee or warranty and no return policy but I had to take the chance. glad I did, Hulud44 and I got it all buttoned up and first turn of the key he fired up with no problems and bucking motion from the motor at highway speeds are gone. my Jeep is across the board running much better. Huge pile of bricks of my shoulders. now for more altitude and bigger meats!!!!

Very cool. Glad to hear it was the computer. I know you felt it was a gamble on wether it was the ECM or not. No better feeling than a roll of the dice in your favor.

I had a similar issue with a xj and swapped comp and it went away. Glad to hear you fixed it.

Wanna talk about irony??? Filled my tank on the XJ for the first time in a couple years LOL. Next day i smell gas. Top of the tank is a little rotted so its sweating out the top. Maybe i was better off runnin in low all the time Haha. Teache me a lesson. Gonna use up half a talk and see gow it is. Haha, im a mechanic and im to lazy to swap in the tank i have in my shed.
