Anyone here have experience with tweaking brakes and alignment? My Jeep pulls to the left when I drive or brake. Steering wheel is also pretty off center. I checked the pad on the right side and it seems fine. Any idea on the cause(s)? If anyone can recommend a fix or a shop that has experience with lifted Jeeps it would be appreciated.

Sounds like a bad caliper or rubber brake hose to me. Big tires and stock brakes and a heat wave spell baked brake components. Even if the brakes are upgraded, this heat does wonderful things to parts. If your near the Patchogue area i would be glad to look at it for you at my shop. If interested PM me.

I also think it might be the caliper. I'm in queens so your shop is a bit of a ride for me unfortunately. I would rather support a fellow OO member than go to another place here. Will pm you for your info for future reference

Not to hijack the thread but today when i got home from queens sitting I'n traffic all the way home as i get off the exit i start to smell a burning smell at the light I continue down the block and my steering wheel wants to go left when not braking. I get home and the left side brakes were smoking a little and it looks like the connection between the hardline and soft line has some brake fluid around the area. I was thinking the caliper might be Bad but the braking and pedal felt fine, what does everyone think of this? Should i just replace the line and caliper?

To brunkhorse.... No problem, thats a hike. Just hope i helped out.
To LIsurfcasters..... If your caliper froze up and created alot of heat it can actually boil the fluid and burst the rubber line or bake the seals in you master if the heat makes its way there. That would explain the fluid you see. It may be stressing the rubber at its weakest link and seeping out. My suggestion is 2 calipers and 2 rubber brake lines. I always suggest brake work done in pairs. I had my old black XJ do what you described. On really hot days it would pull and smoke from the one wheel, but after it cooled down it worked fine again. This heat will cause alot of breakdowns, and parts start to fail. The rubber in the calipers swell and lock up. Another thing to consider is your rear brakes. Badly adjusted rears make the front work that much harder. The extra heat from the weather pushes them to the breaking point. I just re adjusted mine before i left work today. XJ drums love to fall out of adjustment, so i make it a regular check up. Hope that helps.
