Well....... 10/10/10 is Officially over.. It's 12:01 now.
And the world didn't end, Jesus didn't come out of a volcano and tell us we're all going to die, and OJ Simpson is still sitting in prison.
So what's next on the bullshit people believe calendar?? 2012 Mayan??
Anyone here believe in this stuff? I believe in the idea of impending disaster and that an apocalyptic scenario could take place at some point and time. Aliens could make contact an cause all kind of problems. A terrorist could blow up a tactical nuke in NYC fucking everything up around us, etc.. But I don't believe these numerology items and more of the religious prophacy's..
Then again I'm already bonkers so it's probably good I don't believe in a lot of this stuff...

lol not that I believe in the predetermined fate that many attribute to 2012. I do however believe that naturally our perception of life on this planet as we know it could abruptly change at anytime. For 2012 there is a decent amount of scientific data that backs up the theory that our planet could undergo catastrophic climate change. Enough things are going to occur on a celestial level that simply people do not know what kind of impact, if any, it may have on our planet. Many of the celestial events have not happened before since recorded history and more so have not occurred at the same time. Most likely as with all the Y2K paranoia nothing will happen but It is always a good idea to be prepared or at least know how to survive without technology and modern convenience and 711. But so long as I have my Jeep, a house in the mountains on a clean fresh water lake, and plenty of land to hunt I feel I should be ok. IF the apocalypse, 2012 or Zombie War breaks out your welcome to come up to the Adirondacks. lots of trails up there to go offroading :)

I happen to be believe that something is going to happen at the end of 2012. Or more importantly in 2013. Dec 21 2012 is not a random or made up date, like the whole Y2K thing. It is the end of the "Long Count" on the Mayan calendar. The way their calendar works is not the same as ours. It doesn't count forward, it counts down. So, unlike our years that start at 0 and currently at 2010, the Mayans picket 2012 because of astronomical observations that they made. They then counted backward to the time they were around and started the countdown. The thing that makes this date strange is that it is not some vague or random date that we are trying to interpret. It's a date set in stone thousands of years ago by a people who new more about the celestial movements than we do today. Now the Mayans never predicted that the end of the world is coming. Only that it is the end of the "Long Count". They believed (as do I) that this means a great upheaval will occur. There's to many things that are happening in 2012 to ignore that something will happen.

Something like Plum Island having some kind of catastrophic failure seems like the most likely type of scenario that would happen. Sure we could be attacked again by terrorists but I think in our society as it stands currently that will always be a threat now so it would not be some kind of unexpected event. Climate change/shift is a big concern but I'm just not 100% sold on it yet. I think part of the problem with that is for every legit scientist talking from research, there are 5 public mouthpieces spewing their own "versions" of it that sell books or get voters which muddles it all.
Others believe that the second coming is at hand, and that Israel will initiate a great war and take over the majority of their area in the Middle East. I forgot where I was reading about it like a month or two ago but it was pretty nuts sounding. The concepts were all extracted from messages in the Bible. I'm not a believer but I see it as either that is the greatest piece of fiction of all time, or there has to be SOME truths to the stories within the pages. The second coming people believe Israel gets huge, dominates the area, and the second coming of Christ appears in Jerusalem. Seems far fetched to me but like most of these stories or events they had all their details worked out for their version of the end.
Whatever takes place or happens I believe only 2-3% of the population (if that much) are really ready to survive or even attempt to survive. My neighbors and I have a loose plan but who knows how serious they are. If in the first hours after crisis I realize they are not going to be able to deliver; I'll be joining you up in the mountains.

2012 isnt going to be the end of the world by means of earthquakes or reverse polar polarity or any of that crap.... Its the day that the aliens who built all the ancient civilizations and the Mayan calendar are going to return and take us wheeling on the moon!!!

This thread is hilarious. 2012 will come and go just just like every other year they have forecasted to be the end of civilization..
And yeah, as Spike said, step away from the bong or whatever else you dudes may be smoking.. haha

Yeah just avoid those mutant dogs that always seem to escape and wash up on shore and it should be fun.

Plum Island is interesting due to it's government classification. The next reserach facility classified the same way is in NJ.
And ironically enough. A bunch of years ago when they were reporting about a "pack of wild dogs" it started wayyy out east on the island. Reports then mid-island.. then reports in Nassau.
Guess where the final reports of the wild pack of dogs were? Yup you guessed it. NEW JERSEY. Most likely working on some kind of government control system of the animals. They already have bugs that they can control their flight path with electrical charges and that was made public, so to think they can have the equivalent of controled beast running around in the night is by no means out of the range of possibility to me.
Does that make me nuts to believe these things?? Maybe. Not many believe a lot of the edgier stories and concepts until it slaps them in the face though so at least I'm nuts enough to be ready for it and won't be taken by surprise!!

Hey Hey Now! The government completely denies that they crossbreed the mutants. They have crossbreeds and they have mutants, but crossbreeding the mutants would be sick!
